How to Use the Spreadsheet Skills Website

Welcome to your Spreadsheet Skills hub! This site is where you will find your lessons, download your practice files, and turn in your work. Follow this guide to make sure you stay on track.

1. Finding Your Lesson

  • The Skills Menu: Look at the top navigation bar (or the sidebar). You will see Skill 1 through Skill 6.
  • One Step at a Time: Always start with the lowest number you haven’t finished. Do not skip ahead! Spreadsheet skills build on each other like Lego blocks.

2. Following the Page Layout

Every skill page is set up exactly the same way so you don’t get lost:

  • The “I Can” Statement: This is at the very top. Read this first so you know exactly what you are trying to learn today.
  • The Walkthrough: Short instructions with pictures. Read these carefully before you start clicking!
  • The Download Button: Look for the big button that says 📥 Download Starter File. Click this to get the spreadsheet you will be working on.

3. Working on Your Spreadsheet

  1. Download: Click the button on the WordPress page.
  2. Open: Find the file in your “Downloads” folder and open it in Google Sheets (or Excel).
  3. Follow the Checklist: Go back to the WordPress page and look for the ✅ Checklist. Complete every task on that list inside your spreadsheet.

4. Completing the Skill Quiz ✍️

Once you have finished the spreadsheet tasks, you must prove what you’ve learned!

  • Find the Link: Look for the “Knowledge Check” or “Google Quiz” link on the WordPress page.
  • Submit: Answer all questions and hit submit. You must complete the quiz for every skill before moving on.

5. Finished Early? 🏆

If you finish all the tasks and have turned in your file, look for the “Level Up!” section at the bottom of the page. These are “Boss Challenges” for students who want to earn extra house points or become spreadsheet masters.

🆘 Need Help?

  • Link not working? Refresh the page (press F5) or try right-clicking the button and selecting “Open in New Tab.”
